hope everyone is keeping warm today!

so much to do... so little time

sometimes i don't know where the days go. already october is coming to an end.... i still can't believe that it is already october and now its almost over!
i have planned this year to have all my christmas shopping done by the end of november but now i'm already starting to wonder if that is going to happen. i have 4 days of craft sales in november and one home party so i won't have much weekend time to do my shopping... maybe i'll have to buy presents at the craft sales!
i've made several presents already so i have made a small dent in the shopping list but not enough to feel like i'm on schedule. this year i am trying to minimize the number of gifts that are commercially purchased opting for handmade or locally produced gifts but some people are hard to buy for!
the snow on the ground has made me realize that i'd better get started on it because like it or not, christmas will come in a blink of an eye.

TGIF! how things have changed...

something about fridays just make it even harder to sit at my desk and work... i literally count down to home time even if i have nothing exciting planned. i think that the fact that i DON'T have anything exciting planned is possibly what i'm so excited for. gone are the days that i watch the clock counting down the minutes until home time so i can get all dolled up and head out for a night on the town. now i look forward to a lovely friday afternoon nap followed by a relaxing night at home. there are times that i miss the nights out but i guess i'm getting old. this is not something that has snuck up on me but it is something that i am ok with.

here are some of the reasons i KNOW i'm getting older....

1. i can no longer sleep in. even if i stay up until the wee hours of the morning i rarely will sleep past 8:00am

2. if i do go out i'm usually ready to go home by midnight (if not earlier). it is not proven, but i may turn into a pumpkin at the stroke of midnight. i don't want to chance it...

3. i refuse to wait in line. especially if its an outside line. if i can't get in immediately i don't want to be there.

4. when i do go out i dress according to the weather. i don't care if the weather appropriate outfit isn't quite as "hot" as the skimpy one i would have worn a few years back... i just don't want to be cold!

5. i can be ready to go in 10 minutes.

6. i look forward to weekends when i have nothing planned.

7. grocery shopping is now considered an "outing"

8. once i get home i don't want to go back out.

9. i have naps. they are VERY important. don't ever interrupt my nap.

10. coffee. i now live for coffee. i never used to drink coffee. now it is a part of my daily routine.


some people may think these are bad things but i wouldn't change a thing. i embrace it. enjoy it.

RIP Buzz...... I'll miss you

Buzz was my African Clawed frog that I got when he was just a baby and I got pretty attached to him over the years.
When I bought him he was supposed to be a dwarf frog... A month later he'd grown a bit and eaten his tankmate that I'd bought him. Turns out he would eat almost anything. He just kept growing and growing and eating and eating.
A few years later he was about the size of the palm of my hand. Then he ate my goldfish. They were about 2 times his size. The next 5 years he ate anything and everything I put in the tank with him. Even the aquarium ornaments were a target for him he broke all the cool ones and trashed the plants. So for the most part he had a 55 gallon tank to himself. Every couple weeks I would buy him 10 feeder fish and he would usually eat them or at least tear them apart within a couple days. Every now and then there would be a survivor but I think the longest he ever let one live was a bit over a month. I learned in a hurry not to get too attached to the fish.
The tank is now empty and I don't even want to look at it.
I'll have to decide what to do with it. Not totally sure if I want any other fish. Right now I just miss Buzz.

Oh the technology!

Well as an attempt to post more often I'm trying out posting via email. Hopefully this will keep me a bit more current on here. Fingers crossed!

shiny things.

i think in a future life i was a bird.
this morning i was walking through the parking lot and accidentally kicked a little rock that was in my path. well when it rolled into the sunshine it was sparkly. needless to say i am now the proud owner of a shiny rock. just had to pick it up. its sitting in my car. maybe i should start up another rock collection.

this love of shiny things is not limited to rocks... but that was what caught my eye today.
lucky for my bank account. usually the shiny things i fall in love with are a bit pricier than a random rock on the ground.

SUNSHINE!!

looks like the day is turning around and the sun is starting to come through the gloomy clouds that have been hanging around this morning. I really needed that today!

no matter how bad my day is I will always smile when the sun peeks out from behind the clouds.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BAXTER!!

Today marks Baxter's 6th Birthday!
I think I may have to go buy him a new shirt or something... he loves his shirts and sweaters so much.
one of the very cutest things he does is bring me his sweater to put it on him if he's cold. he'll go find one and bring it to me and put it right in my lap and then stare at me and dramatically shiver (total drama queen) until i give in and put his sweater on him. i swear if he could get dressed himself he would!

For me there is one candy that won my heart as a child and I love it almost more as an adult.

In my mind there is nothing better. if i'm having a bad day nothing cheers me up like POP ROCKS... you can't help but smile when there are delicious little candies dancing in your mouth.

people seem to have forgotten about these little packages of happiness but every time i have POP ROCKS and someone sees them they are almost instantly excited and haven't had them since they were kids. even though i don't want to share my candy i love seeing the look of happiness when people are reunited with the JOY of POP ROCKS!

here is a recipe to try...
Exploding Strawberry Daiquiri
Ingredients:
1/2 oz Strawberry schnapps
1 oz Light rum
1 oz Lime juice
1/2 oz simple syrup
2 oz Strawberries
Drop Strawberry Pop Rocks on top

Happy Sunday to everyone!
Getting ready to head down to my parents house for an informal engagement dinner... not sure what i'm going to wear... decisions decisions.

it's just perfect! and what is even more perfect is that my babies got to help propose.

faux friday!!!

today is one of them....

you wonder why i am calling thursday "faux friday?"

i am taking a day off tomorrow! no work. a day off i feel is well deserved.
the only thing i absolutely have to do all day friday is make sure that fernando makes it to the airport safe and sound and on time to catch his flight.
i can handle that.

i have a to do list a mile (or two maybe) long but i am completely ok with that since i know that i have no one elses schedule to work around and i can work on my stuff all weekend any time!

busy busy busy!

well so far this year has started out with in a whirlwind of activity. it seems like it has just flown by and january is already more than half over and it seems like no time has passed at all.
i have made some progress with my etsy store... not a lot... but baby steps are ok with me. i'm slowly starting to get some of my new stuff listed and now i think my big focus has to be on getting better pictures of my items so everyone can really see what they're like instead of having to guess a little due to my less than stellar photography skills and less than stellar camera! i don't expect this to happen overnight but i am hoping that by better showcasing my work it will help me to get more people's attention and maybe sell a bit more!! it was a lot easier to sell stuff when people actually were looking at it in person.  maybe there will be some craft sales in my future... who knows?
thats all for now... time to get some sleep since i'm sure tomorrow is going to be another long day.

New Year... New Goals

I think we all have had our not so successful resolutions but this year I am determined to make mine happen!
most of my friends are pledging to work out, lose weight... that sort of thing. anyone who knows me knows that i have not stepped foot in a gym for YEARS... and that the idea of trying to lose weight is something that i just can't quite grasp as my super speedy metabolism has taken good care of me so far in that department. its not that i'm against exercise... i only dislike pointless exercise done only in the pursuit of weight loss. more specifically the people who complain extensively to anyone who will listen  about how horrible it is and how much they hurt... they wonder why they never stick with their exercise routines... its because they hate it.  i LOVE my tap class every week... its not super intense exercise but it is super fun. to me that matters sooooo much more. i will go to tap class every week because i enjoy it. there are tons of activities that are enjoyable exercise... and yes there are the people that in my mind are a little crazy because they actually LOVE the gym...
well if you can guess.... my goals for the year have nothing to do with exercise or weight loss! LOL!

my goals for the year a based mostly around my etsy store and home based business that i am going to try and really get off the ground this year. i have already made some progress as i got quite a few pieces done over the weekend. now i just have to photograph them and post them in my store. its been over 6 months since i have added new items because i have been so overwhelmed with everything else going on.... especially over christmas. i am really looking forward to the challenge making KABUKIKREATIONS a bigger and better thing!
