Kitting vs crochet.

I could probably crochet in my sleep. Seriously. I love to crochet but sometimes I just can't get the look I want with crochet.
Knitting. A thorn in my side. I love the look of knitting. Love.
Knitting does not love me. I am the slowest most confused knitter. I'm trying. Again.
I think people are either good at crochet OR knitting. Not both. I am definitely a crocheter by nature. I learned both at the same time from my grandma (thank you for that grandma... So glad you passed that on to me. I see it as a gift that keeps giving) but was never very good at knitting and just took to crocheting like a fish to water.
Why? Who knows.
Will I keep trying? You bet. I don't like to admit defeat!

Here is my latest attempt. And one of the few finished knitting projects I've ever done.

the latest addition...

i know that trying to get ready for a big craft sale is probably not the best time to be messing around with new ideas, but i saw a super cute vintage picture and i had to try it.
i've gotten a great response for these little guys...
i'm going to try and get as many made up as possible so i will have a small flock of them at Make It!

what color combos would you like best?
i'm open to suggestions!

i'm calling them little hooters.
they will be available for purchase at Make it!

check out all the awesome vendors and get the details here

tis the season?

normally i really slow down on the crochet front come spring... this year, not so much! i have been super busy getting custom orders finished up so i can get monsters made for Make It! Edmonton.
i have some done but i need a lot more... good thing i have a whole basket of monster bodies done that are just waiting for the gift of sight... they are currently eyeball-less, but it won't take a lot of time to get those eyeballs stitched on.
my new summer hats were a big hit and a whole batch of them will be on their way to new heads this weekend. then i just have to get a pile of them made to sell at shows this spring. this is what i will be spending every moment of every evening doing for the foreseeable future... once Hugo is asleep i have dinner and then get to work. exciting i know.
i think i will be taking a small break from the jewelry i usually fill my spring and summer with and focusing on other crafty goodies this year.

SUCCESS!!

victory is mine!

first item on my mat leave bucket list was to re-learn how to make a granny square.
i am proud to announce i whooped the granny square's ass.

i am terrible at following directions when it comes to crocheting so i learned by just looking at a picture and i think i've gotten it.

two test squares and 3 good ones to start a blanket for the sea monkey.

this picture is really dark since it was taken with me phone around midnight in my basement (formerly known as man land - now a split between craft land and man land since i lost my sewing room to give the sea monkey a room), but the color is actually a really nice aqua green and i'm going to pair it with red squares and hopefully figure out how to connect them all with black and white in between.

not sure how to do that yet since i've never made a granny square blanket yet, but i'm up to the challenge. i am already picking up speed with the squares and i just started... i think that i like granny squares.

also just wanted to say happy thanksgiving to everyone... i for one can't wait for turkey and stuffing today! favorite food ever.
