what to do, what to do...

i'm finding myself thinking about summer... about the fun things we will be able to do with hugo... things that i might not have done if it was just me but now that i have hugo to use as an excuse, lets go!

some of the things i am looking forward to...

• impromptu "picnics" (just pack up and go with a blanket and some snacks and spend some time sitting in a park or somewhere pretty... JUST BECAUSE!)
• going swimming (i bought hugo a swim diaper so we are set! just need to pick a day and a pool and go!)
• going to playgrounds. i know he's a bit small for this still, but as soon as i figure out a playground that has swings with bucket seats we will become regulars.
• going for walks. with the stroller and the dogs i think it will be lovely!
• go to a spray park... just to see what hugo thinks of it.
• going to the muttart conservatory... i have been waiting to do this until hugo was a bit older but i think that now he'll maybe actually enjoy it a bit so pyramids look out!

and probably 20 other things that i'll think of as the summer gets closer, but i want this to be a fun summer because it's hugos first summer and i want it to be the best summer ever!!

what do you like to do in the summer?

you can take the girl out of the country but you can't take the country out of the girl

i want to be out of the city.

i miss big open fields and i want hugo to experience all the amazing things that i did growing up on a farm.

i am hoping that we will be able to move to the country sometime in the future so hugo can grow up a country boy and i can get back to my roots.

i know that trying to get ready for a big craft sale is probably not the best time to be messing around with new ideas, but i saw a super cute vintage picture and i had to try it.
i've gotten a great response for these little guys...
i'm going to try and get as many made up as possible so i will have a small flock of them at Make It!

happy 6 months hugo!

i didn't get a chance to post this yesterday on hugo's 6 month-a-versary but better late than never!

it is getting harder and harder to get him to hold still with a little month sign!

so many things that are changing.... he is getting big so fast!

a few things about hugo...

loves sweet potato!

grabs onto anything within reach... i mean anything! chico has yet to figure this out.

does not like green beans

poses for the camera (maybe this is a sign that i take too many pictures... meh.

smiles when i ask him "who's a supermodel?"

met his auntie ashley on skype

still refuses to nap for the most part. tricked me by napping for 2 days in a row but it was just to get my hopes up i think.

hugs me around my neck and melts my heart

loves grabbing onto my hair and yanking chunks of it out. this is not nearly as fun as he thinks it is!

when he smiles at me i can't think of anything better in the whole world.

 

tis the season?

normally i really slow down on the crochet front come spring... this year, not so much! i have been super busy getting custom orders finished up so i can get monsters made for Make It! Edmonton.
i have some done but i need a lot more... good thing i have a whole basket of monster bodies done that are just waiting for the gift of sight... they are currently eyeball-less, but it won't take a lot of time to get those eyeballs stitched on.
my new summer hats were a big hit and a whole batch of them will be on their way to new heads this weekend. then i just have to get a pile of them made to sell at shows this spring. this is what i will be spending every moment of every evening doing for the foreseeable future... once Hugo is asleep i have dinner and then get to work. exciting i know.
i think i will be taking a small break from the jewelry i usually fill my spring and summer with and focusing on other crafty goodies this year.

things my crafting will buy me #2

i am making a big effort to use my camera... my REAL camera.

this is a past crafting purchase...

i am really good at slowly saving up for things, but not so knowledgeable about what to actually save up for in this situation. i want to get some new lenses... just have no idea what to get! i am not going to be spending big money on them since as crafty as i may be, i just can't crochet/craft THAT much since i have a velcro baby to take care of and lets face it, he gets the majority of my time.

anyone have a favorite lens or accessory they would suggest?

my love hate relationship with my breadmaker is hovering around the HATE mark right now.
when i first got it i had great luck with it, but the last few times i used it i have had the worst luck ever with it! i used to love the thing, but even after a year long hiatus it still hates me.
today's attempt ended in a very dense bread although it does taste good so i guess its not a total fail. why won't you just cooperate damn it! it is supposed to be idiot proof! i am either an idiot or the darn thing is out to get me.
there was a small bit of user error today so i will take partial credit in the fail, but i'm going to try this recipe once more and if it still doesn't work i think i am going to throw the breadmaker out the window!
how hard can it be?!?
there is no way that hugo will allow me the time it takes to make bread from scratch without being able to just dump it all in the breadmaker and push start. NO WAY AT ALL!
maybe i'll give it another try tomorrow.
